Abstract
The article discusses rituals related to childbirth and subsequent incorporation of the child into the group of Datogo of Northern Tanzania. Drawing on own fieldwork data, the authors analyze the complex world of life-cycle rituals among the Datogo, focusing specifically on those instituted and practiced to ensure the successful entrance of a child into the society, as well as to consolidate efficiently family, generation, and other social links.
