The material prepared by one of the most famous modern Russian sinologists - academician of the RAS V.S. Myasnikov, contains archival documents previously unknown in Russian historiography, which were discovered by the author at the Museum of the Imperial Palace (Gugun) in Beijing. Letters from Russian officials to the regional rulers of the Qing Imperial Court reflect the specifics and nature of relations between Russia and China in the first quarter of the 19th century.
