- Abstract
- The article examines the vicissitudes of Russian-Japanese relations in the early twentieth century, from the Portsmouth Peace Treaty to Japan's intervention in the Russian Far East. A detailed analysis of the interests of Russia and Japan in Korea, Northern China, and the fishing zone of the Sea of Japan and the Sea of Okhotsk is given. The coincidence and divergence of interests of the parties on various problems of the region is revealed. The article describes the main stages of the Japanese intervention in the Russian Far East and the organization of the repulse of Japanese troops by regular troops and partisan detachments of the Far East.
