- Abstract
- Thirty years of the development of Shenzhen — one of the most famous symbols of China's modernization policy, economic reforms and external openness — are under reviewed. Three stages of the process are considered. The period of 1980–1991 relates to formation of a special economic zone of Shenzhen. In 1992–2002 Shenzhen has played a vanguard role in China as an example of deepening market reform and functioning as the "world factory". In 2003–2010 to the forefront came innovation and integration activities of Shenzhen.
