Abstract

The paper contains an analysis of data about people's religion in rural China in the Republican period, taken from case studies of 1920–1930's. It provides information about the regional specificity of folk beliefs and temple activities in the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hebei and in the suburbs of Beijing.
