- Abstract
- The article is devoted to the study of the problems of Beiyang militarism in Chinese historiography in the 80-90s. The most debatable problems are considered, in the study of which new approaches have been outlined: the origins of Chinese militarism, its definition, the internal and foreign policy of the Beiyang militarists, the nature of their power, the social basis, etc. Special attention is paid to the positive assessments of Chinese historians regarding some aspects of the activities of the Beiyang group as a whole and its individual representatives.
