- Abstract
- Xinhai Revolution opened the way for the modernization process in China, overthrew the foreign Manchu dynasty, that ruled in China from 1644, and proposed a new model of political structure and governance — on the basis of the constitution and within the framework of a parliamentary republic. It differed sharply from the traditional ruling model. The activities of the revolutionary government of Nanking (1912–1913), especially during the interim presidency of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, paved the "channel" through which a movement to modernize the political sphere had started.
