Abstract
Earthquake in Japan on March 11, 2011 led to tragic consequences for this country: a huge tsunami wave enveloped the coastal areas of northeastern Honshu Island, more than 26 thousand people have been reported dead or missing, numerous houses, facilities and manufacturing plants have gone. In addition, the tsunami has brought down the cooling system of "Fukushima -1" nuclear power plant, which caused a serious environmental accident. The article provides some estimates of tragic events that have occurred in Japan.
