Abstract
This article considers international cooperation in the field of dismantlement of decommissioned nuclear submarines of the Russian Pacific fleet. Harsh financial conditions and lack of capacities to resolve this problem on its own forced Russia to call for the help of Japan, which was later on backed by other countries of Asia-Pacific region - Australia, South Korea and New Zealand. The cooperation and foreign financial aid has allowed to dismantle three submarines, to sign the agreement for dismantlement of two more and to construct the facility for radioactive waste treatment.
