Abstract
The article tells about the works of Russian literature of the late 1920-1930s, devoted to Sakhalin. The books by Lev Alpatov, Boris Elinskiy, Peter Slyotov, Nikolay Dolotin, Victor Kantorovich, Sergey Mikhalkov and others had informed the readers about Far Eastern border of the country with Japan, about ethnography of the indigenous people of Sakhalin, about success of Soviet power in the island.
