- This article describes the works of sailors, travelers, journalists and writers from Europe about Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands for the period of XVII - XX centuries, which focused on geopolitical situation in the region, the life of indigenous peoples and the perception of Sakhalin by A. Chekhov.
