- Abstract
The article examines the problem of Bulgarian-Turkish cooperation between the Balkan Wars and the First World War based on unpublished reports of Russian military agents in the Balkans. This material demonstrates a generally high efficiency of Russian intelligence. They succeeded in grasping the vector of the Bulgarian-Turkish interaction and provided the foreign policy department with valuable information. The Russian authorities were informed about the main stages of the Bulgarian-Turkish negotiation process, as well as about the eventual plans of Bulgaria and Turkey regarding the revision of the Bucharest Treaty. The article concludes that, despite the presence of tangible contradictions between Sofia and Constantinople, the negotiations between them in 1913–1914 paved the way for the signing of the Bulgarian-Turkish union treaty in August 1914, which accelerated Turkey's entry into the war and firmly hooked Bulgaria to the Triple Alliance force camp.
