Abstract

The author analyzes current and future trends in U.S. and Swiss relations. The two countries are often called sister republics. The author justifies a hypothesis that it may be a special Swiss model of cooperation with the United States. This model can also be used under certain conditions by other small and medium-sized states. At the heart of the model is the maintenance of sovereignty through variously organized contacts, creating a broad network of different rights and obligations. The author writes in this context about the network sovereignty. The implementation of such a model makes clear the weaknesses of the USA. The same is true of the consequences of this weakness for the West and Western values. The Rakurs, who has chosen the author, has a discussion character. The article may be interesting in trying to work out future relations between the US and Europe.
