Abstract

The article explores the main activities of the China lobby in the United States in the general context of U.S.-China relations from the time of their official establishment in 1979 up to the present moment. This lobby represents the interests of the PRC. Careful consideration is given to the main pro-China groups in the USA: Chinese diplomats, professional lobbyists, representatives of American business, academic community, former and current politicians or socalled "Friends of China", and methods of their influence on American politics. This study determines the structure of the China lobby and the main methods of its influence. It scrutinizes activities of American legal, lobbying and consulting companies on promoting pro-Chinese interests. This required analysis of an extensive collection of registration documents and reports on lobbying. The article shows how the China lobby played an important role in the establishment of normal trade relations between two states. It proves that the China lobby in the U.S. plays an important role in achieving China's national interests. The activities of the China lobby with the assistance of American business allow China to maintain positive dynamics of the development of U.S.-China relations and to some extent influence the opinion of the American leaders in the process of decision making in their China policies.
