- Abstract
- The article discusses the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church among the local population of the Russian Far East, the activities of the Vladivostok Mission among Korean immigrants in the Southern Ussuri region and the services of the Russian Orthodox Church on the territory of Manchuria as well. Although the Harbin Diocese established there was not commissioned to carry out missionary activities, the local Chinese and Manchurians became more familiar with the Orthodoxy by communicating with Orthodox Christians, entering into mixed marriages and attending Orthodox church services. Even in conditions when direct missionary activities on the territory of the Far East were impossible, the Orthodox Church played an important role as a promoter of Russian spiritual culture in that region.
