- Abstract
The author analyzes in detail the report of Arkady Lavrovich Sidorov (1900—1966), a prominent Soviet historian, director of the Institute of History of the USSR Academy of Sciences, on a scientific mission to Budapest in the second half of October 1956 at the height of the deepest internal political crisis in the country, culminating in bloody events on the city streets.
